7 Quick Takes (10)

May 14, 2010

Matt –

It’s Friday! Of course for the past few days, at least for me, its been one big Friday. So uh…lemme start again. Ahem. To all of those who are working or are still taking finals at a lesser university, it’s Friday! And Friday means two things: 1) you are required by law to do something irresponsible and 2) you are required by your desire to be awesome and read our Quick Takes.

1. Matt – Well, I tried to do something cool for you guys this morning. I attempted to add author-specific fonts to make it easier to tell who is bringing you these awesome bits of entertainment. Apparently WordPress formatting policy is set by the same people who worked out the AT&T deal with Apple. Look for something to this effect to come into play when we get our blog professionally designed. This will be happenening soon. Does anybody have any recommendations? We have seen some of your blogs and are in awe most of the time. We are looking at any option.

2. Ashley – I put off getting my wisdom teeth removed as long as I could. It was an honest effort. The big bad dentists cornered me into making an appointment almost two years ago. But they couldn’t do the surgery for half a year (for three reasons 1. I was in school 2. they insisted I’d need to be home two consecutive weeks 3. they only did surgeries on Fridays). My date was rapidly approaching… when it turned out we were going on a family vacation that interfered. Oh darn! After that, mom’s company insurance was changing so it wasn’t worthwhile to pursue until we found out who her new insurance would cover…

3. Matt – Radio in Houston is TOTALLY different than radio in Waco. Think of it this way: you are taking a cross country trip and you have the option of either taking a sub-compact car with barely any air conditioning or Iron Man just offered you to borrow his suit and his credit card to stop at PF Chang’s (you will probably get hungry). Waco has a top 40 station (think 95.7 here in Houston but WAYYYY more generic) and a rock station (think 94.5 the Buzz but WAYYYY cornier). It’s terrible. Every time I break into the Houston radio plane (to my Aggy friends, not the NNNNNYEEEEARRRRRR kind, the….nevermind) it’s like a light bulb going off in my head, OHHHH! THIS is music!

4. Ashley – …Sure I knew it couldn’t last forever. But I was going to try my best. However, my general dentist lectured me for the 10000th time last time I saw her. I know a losing battle when I see one (that and I was worried about my wisdom teeth shifting my other teeth too much. I already suffered through braces twice). Mom found a name, made me an appointment, and before I knew it I was scheduled to have the surgery in a few months. I promised myself if I just kept ignoring it maybe it wouldn’t happen…

5. Matt – Living at home is great… family, free food, seeing friends, and so on. However, in order to communicate with somebody on an alternative floor, you must really raise your voice. Simple questions such as, “Do you want a popsicle?” turns into “<LOTS OF UNINTELLIGIBLE YELLING> POPSICLE”! The standard response to somebody yelling you in this manner is to assume that they are accusing you of stealing the last popsicle, to which you respond, “NO MA, I DIDN’T STEAL THE LAST POPSICLE”. Things get fun over here. Miscommunication is not the way of the Jedi. I must work on this. However, I do chuckle whenever I think of this…

6. Ashley – …But Matt picked me up yesterday at 8:00 a.m. By 8:30 I had handed over my money, signed the paperwork, and was nervously tapping my leg (the sound of drills was not particularly comforting). The good news is that I survived (melodramatic? me?). The bad news is they have me on this all liquid diet. For example, yesterday I was only allowed “clear” liquids (broth, apple juice, gatorade, water, etc.). The only non-liquid I could have was jello. Excuse me but that is not a diet. That is somebody’s cruel joke. Thank the Lord that today I can have any type of liquid. Jamba Juice, coffee, and shakes? Yes please. Better yet, bring on tomorrow’s “soft foods!”

7. Matt – My work with Dell and Mosaic has gone off without a hitch! I’m getting a great opportunity to spread the word about some awesome deals and products from Dell and to help inform some people about what they might want to look into. Every Friday or so, look for me to tag on something to the end of our blog. There might be/definitely will be some contests and giveaways!

How come you didn’t post that coupon code a couple weeks ago? I’m on a Dell computer right now. It’s awesome (but please don’t tell my Vaio I said that). It’s also my mom’s computer and I have to give it up in a couple of weeks. Sad day.
Btw, it’s totally not disrespectful that you spell Aggie incorrectly. Think about how it makes us look when we say t.u. and apply that to this.

Ashley: I hope you feel better soon. You’re a trooper to have done the surgery without anesthesia; I’m a big baby so I made sure they put me “under” even though it was only 20 minutes long.

Matt: Excited about the contest/coupons. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Love that you both take the time to blog together. It’s too adorable. And thanks for reading my blog. You guys are in going in the Google Reader now!
